Trainee Rigger

Jack joined RigPro in 2022 and started his apprenticeship in 2023. He has been sailing since he was 11 years old and competed in the Optimist and Starling race circuit.

Jack races aboard multiple keelboats in the Auckland regattas and has competed in numerous coastal races around New Zealand. He has coached dinghy sailing at Glendowie Boating Club for many seasons. Like most of our staff he has a strong passion for the sea.

Aaron Pennell

Composite Sparmaker and Senior Rigger

Aaron joined RigPro in 2022. He has 24 years of mast building experience at both Marten Spars and Southern Spars and has been involved in the build of hundreds of masts from laminating to final fit out. He is a first-class composite specialist, with his skills for laminate repairs being requested in all corners of the world. When he’s not working on masts, he likes to ride in Moto cross events and restore his 1962 Mini.

Peter Gamble

Trainee Rigger

Peter joined RigPro in May 2022.
He left school at 17 to work as a deckhand on Superyachts, aboard the Southern Spars rigged Georgia.
He was watchkeeper aboard Thalia and the Mate aboard My Star.
He has been sailing for 11 years both racing and cruising.
He has raced competitively in, Starling dinghies, Flying Dutchman as well as the 29er class.
He is a keen kite surfer and enjoys offroad rallying in his 4 x 4 truck.

Patrick Morgan

Trainee Rigger/Assistant Project Manager

Pat joined RigPro in September 2022.
Pat has been sailing since he was 8 years old starting in Optimists and progressing through the P Class and Starling fleets into the 29er Class where he represented New Zealand multiple times in the World Championships placing in the top 10.
He now competes in the 49er class with his twin brother and placed 3rd in the Junior Worlds in 2022.
When he’s not practicing in the 49er or coaching other dinghy sailors, he races aboard various keel boats in the Waitemata.
He graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Finance and Supply chain management.

Andrew Cooke

Senior Rigger

Andrew joined RigPro in 2019

He has over 26 years of experience in the rigging and engineering industries.

He has previously  owned his own stainless engineering company and has constructed multiple motor boats.

He is a very experienced keelboat racer and has competed in everything from Elliot 5.9s  through to an Orma 60 Trimaran. He currently races aboard a TP52 out of Auckland.

He has 30,000 nm of  bluewater cruising and racing experience under his belt.

Gavin Ninnes

Trainee Rigger

Gavin joined RigPro in 2020

He is a keen skiff sailor and is currently competing in the 49er skiff regattas.

He trialled for the 49er Olympic team in 2020 but was pipped to the line by Burling and Tuke.

Prior to that he owned a 29er dinghy and competed in international regattas.

Gavin coaches sailing at  Pt Chevalier Yacht Club  and the  French Bay Yacht Club

 

Alex Mitchell-Barker

Alex joined RigPro in 2019

He has 3 years of experience in the rigging industry.

He is a competitive foiling skiff sailor and is the 2020 NZ Wasp champion.

He is building his own carbon fibre foiling Moth so he can compete at  the next level.

 

Hamish Miller

Hamish joined RigPro in 2018 but he had a long standing working relationship with RigPro. He has more than 10 years of experience in rigging services and projects including commissioning of new rigs, warranty repairs, emergency damage repairs and service maintenance. Hamish consistently provided outstanding service to customers, developing its excellent reputation in the rigging service sector.
